REVIEW L'Oreal Paris Gentle Lip and Eye Makeup Remover

by - December 27, 2020

Still in the episode of reviewing L’Oreal Paris’ products that I got as a prize for winning the challenge in their event with Female Daily Network, this time I’m going to review an essential, old-school product. It is Gentle Lip and Eye Makeup Remover! Why do I call it an essential product? Because cleansing is one of the main steps of taking care of your skin. I also call it an old-school one because this kind of lip and eye makeup remover is nearly extinct (lol, I’m exaggerating). I feel like it is because of the existence of micellar water that dominates the nowadays’ market.

It’s quite often to hear some of my friends say “this micellar water sucks, it can’t clean my mascara off.” Well, honey, most micellar waters don’t contain oils that are useful to wipe waterproof makeup, while this kind of product suits your need better. So, if you’re one of the many people who are looking for an effective waterproof-makeup cleanser, you might want to search for this kind of product. I suggest you keep on reading this review, just in case this product might be the one you’ve been looking for!

Price

IDR122,000 for 125ml.

Where to buy

Online:
Shopee**, Tokopedia**, Sociolla, Lazada**, Blibli.

Offline:
Drugstore, department store.

Packaging

A clear plastic bottle with a twisted cap.

Scent

None.

Texture

It’s watery and oily. Don’t worry! I don’t think this product is as oily as the infamous lip and eye makeup remover from their sister brand. But if I compare this one to the one from Wardah, I think this product leaves a bit more oil residue on the skin. I can’t guarantee that statement, though, because it’s been quite long since the last time I used the one from Wardah.

Thoughts

First off, I like that this product doesn’t contain alcohol! I’m not an anti-alcohol-in-skincare gang, but I avoid it because I know my skin is easily dehydrated. To make sure my skin doesn’t get dehydrated again, I become more careful when it comes to alcohol as an ingredient in skincare, especially in cleansers. The fact that this product doesn’t contain alcohol makes it less drying to the skin. I also appreciate this cleanser for not being so greasy on the eyes and lips, very much the opposite of many ‘old-school’ lip and eye makeup removers. Even though so, it leaves a light oily film on the other parts of the face, so you have to rinse it off with a second cleanser (well, every first cleanser has to be rinsed anyway). But, if you don’t feel comfortable of having to experience the oily film on your skin, you can just use this product to cleanse the eyes and lips makeup only, just like the main purpose of this product.

I think the ability to cleanse is excellent. It doesn’t mean you can wipe the whole makeup in just one swipe, but at least it is much more effective than the regular micellar water. If I compare it to bi-phase micellar water, I still think this cleanser is a bit more effective. A good option to use when you feel so lazy to use a messy cleansing oil/balm :D

Overall, I think it’s a good product! I wasn’t really interested in this kind of product before because I used to think that it’d be way too greasy and uncomfortable. I’m glad this product exceeds my expectation :D Recommended!

Suitable for

Every skin type. If you’re dealing with fungal-acne, you might want to consult with your doctor before trying this product since it contains oil that wouldn’t be the best choice for your concern.

Pros

+ doesn’t leave an annoying greasy feeling
+ cleanse makeup well
+ doesn’t dry out the skin

Cons

- a bit pricey, there are many cheaper alternatives in the market

Overall rating
4/5
