REVIEW Pond's Perfect Potion Essence—Essence, Toner, and Mask in a Bottle

by - October 25, 2020

Pond’s is one of the first skincare brands that I tried! Be honest now, guys. I bet many of you people used Pond’s too when you first attracted with skincare, right? As time goes by, skincare became a trend that people start to dig in further. To keep up with it, drugstore skincare brands HAD to offer innovations, so they don’t get labelled as a monotonous skincare brand. That’s what Pond’s does, and they come up with their newest product (okay, it’s not that new now, hehe). It is Pond’s White Beauty Perfect Potion Essence 3-in-1! Yes, they had a toner product before, but this time they come out with a 3-in-1 concept, which is very interesting. They claim that this product can be used as an essence, toner, and also a mask. What they mean by mask here is by using it with the CSM method, or some people know it better as a mask pack.

If you’re interested in this affordable & easy-to-get-product, but you want to know the review first, please keep on reading!

Price
IDR35,000 for 50ml. Also available in the bigger size (110ml).

Packaging
It uses pink colour a la most of Pond’s products. The size is small, but somehow this plastic bottle feels sturdy.

Scent
It has a quite strong fresh floral scent, but, worry not! It’s not disturbing at all.

Texture
The texture is watery, but you can feel it has a thick feel in it. Even though so, it’s fast-absorbing and doesn’t leave any tacky feeling after applied.

Thoughts
I gotta say, even though I don’t feel that much change based on the two of their three claims, I’m pretty satisfied with this product’s performance in the term of supplying more hydration into the skin. Please keep in mind that I’m not saying it doesn’t work at all in those two other claims, but it just doesn’t work significantly to the point I can notice the change. Maybe because I didn’t buy this product hoping that it’d do as what the claims say—brighten the skin, fades dark spots, reduce dullness, and makes the pores appear smaller—so I don’t feel upset when it doesn’t work that much. So, with that the case, I’m going to review this product focusing more on the hydrating/moisturising claim instead.

For the hydrating effect, I think it’s okay. I’m not going to say that this product is sooo freaking hydrating to the point I feel like my skin is super-duper hydrated, nope. But, yes, it is a fact that this product gives more hydration than how I expected it to be. I mean, you know most drugstore products, when it comes to providing hydration, they don’t do it ‘perfectly.’ And, yeah, this product is quite effective in that aspect & you can feel it hydrates well. The texture is workable, and the additional scent isn’t disturbing. It’s a good product for me.

By the way, I use this product as a toner. I feel like even though you use it as an essence, it’s just going to work as additional hydration. Or maybe it can help other brightening products to work even better on the skin. Until this point, I haven’t used this product as a mask. Not that I don’t want to, but I feel like I don’t want to waste my skincare hastily. And I think the CSM method sometimes can be such a waste because it needs so much amount of toner. So, yeah, I still can’t tell how it works as a mask. I probably one day will use it as a mask, and when I do, I’ll update it on my Instagram story. Suitable for
Every skin type. But, if you have sensitive skin, try to do a patch test before. I’m pretty concerned because the fragrance is listed pretty high on the ingredients list. If you have a problem regarding fungal acne, I think you too should do a patch test, or even consult to your doctor first.

Pros
+ it gives a considerable amount of hydration
+ available in a smaller size. Could be handy if you want to try it first, so you don’t have to buy the bigger size right away
+ affordable
+ easy to get

Cons
- not all claims are proven (at least on me)

Overall rating
4/5
