REVIEW XYCos Pink Collagen Toner

by - February 24, 2020

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that I was sent a set of skincare from XYCos and its sister brands! I posted my experience, or I call it the preview, of using these products in two weeks on Instagram already. But now I’m going to write the full review here in my blog. In the preview, the duration of usage for all four products is in two weeks, so it’s 3 days of usage for each product. For this full review, I used each product exclusively for two weeks each. I hope you get what I mean, lol. Is the experience of using these products for two weeks each the same as the experience of using them for only three days? Any difference whatsoever? Hmm, we’ll see.

Anyway, I want to introduce the product first. I do this not because this product is gifted, but because this brand probably hasn’t well known here yet, I think. I mean, I also didn’t know this brand until they DM-ed me, haha. So, XYCos is a Korean brand. They claimed that they’re clean and cruelty-free, and they don’t artificial fragrance. Their products are plant-based, too. The product I got from this brand is their Pink Collagen Toner, which the star ingredients are collagen, wild berries, and rosehip.

Price
$19.00 for 120ml.

Packaging
I love that it uses a pump and has a cap to make it secure if you travel with it. The size is pretty big, that might be not so travel-friendly, size-wise.

Scent
It smells like a pop of herbal stuff, I think I smell a hint of turmeric in it (although it’s not in the ingredients list). Once I saw someone wrote it’s a rosehip scent, but since I never smelled one before, so I can’t tell if it was true. The scent is a little turn off for me, to be honest. If you’re sensitive to strong smells, you might want to consider sniffing it before you buy it.

Texture
It has a runny light texture. It’s not watery neither it’s thick like gel.

Result
Despite the name collagen, surprisingly, this is not an extremely hydrating one-layer-toner. I found it hydrates my skin well if I use two layers with two pumps each. I don’t think it’s a big of a deal because it absorbs pretty fast into the skin anyway since the texture is liquidy. It also doesn’t make the skin feels tacky, which is a good thing for a toner. But, if I use essence too in my skincare activity at that moment, one layer is enough.

After using this product religiously for two weeks, I don’t feel much difference from the first three days trial. I always felt this toner make my skin feels plumper and slightly more radiant. The fact that this toner contains alcohol, fortunately, doesn’t make my skin react in any negative way. It’s not that my skin is extremely sensitive to alcohol, but I’m quite careful of any skincare with alcohol in it since it was an ingredient that made my skin dehydration worse back then. But thank God this toner is safe enough for my skin.

Do I think this product is a pass? Not at all. But, if you decide to give this product a try, I’d say just don’t keep your expectation high. I guess this isn’t a product that will give you an instant effect, but with those catchy ingredients, I’m pretty sure this toner will keep your skin healthy. It’s that kind of product that you’ll realise it’s working after a loong time. Besides, this toner is simple enough that you can pair it with any other skincare products.

Product was gifted by the brand, but it doesn’t change my honest opinion about the product.
