REVIEW L'Oreal UV Perfect Super Aqua Essence

by - December 21, 2019

If you’re following me on Instagram (@asteriabeauty_), then you know that I’ve asked everyone through my Instagram story to pick a sunscreen for me. After so many days considering which one to get, I decided to pick the one with the most vote, which also is the one I’ve been curious about the most, it is L’Oreal UV Perfect Super Aqua Essence. I think most people only know the green tube or the Matte & Fresh variant, while they actually have four variants. This is one of those and the tube colour is blue. I used the green tube sunscreen before I changed to this one and I already reviewed it on FD (Female Daily) App. You can read it by visiting my profile on FD if you want. You can search me by my username, @ameisya. :)

Anyway, I’ve been curious about this L’Oreal Aqua Essence sunscreen because they describe it as a ‘fresh hydrating UV watery gel’ sunscreen. As someone with normal-oily combination skin and someone who prefers fast-absorbing products, of course, the description sounds interesting to me. Let’s review it and see if it matches my expectation!

Price
IDR99,000 for 30ml.

Where to buy
Online:
Shopee**, Tokopedia**, Sociolla, Lazada**, Blibli.

Offline:
Drugstore, minimarket, department store.

Packaging
A light blue plastic tube. The tip of the bottle where the product dispensed is small, it decreases the possibility of dispensing too much product at once.

Scent
A subtle fresh scent. It gives me a throwback moment whenever I smell it because it kinda smells like Banana Boat sunblock, but less strong.

Texture
A gel-lotion texture. It feels like a combination of those two textures. It’s like a light lotion, but absorbs faster and feels lighter just like gel. Easy to blend and fast-absorbing, no white cast, and non-sticky.

Ingredients
Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Alcohol Denat, Isononyl Isononanoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Drometrizole Trisiloxane, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Dimethicone, Silica, Dipropylene Glycol, C14-22 Alcohols, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol, Diisopropyl Sebacate, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Phenoxyethanol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Butylene Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Glycerin, PEG-20, Sodium Methyl Stearoyl Taurate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Carbomer, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Menthoxypropanediol, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Xanthan Gum, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Linalool, t-Butyl Alcohol, BHT, Limonene, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Seedcake Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Geraniol, Citronellol, Eugenol, Fragrance

Claims
SPF50 PA++++ with broad UVA filter
12 hours of UV protection * ~ I can’t tell, but if you want to be under the sun for quite a long time, I suggest you to always re-apply your sunscreen!
Very light liquid texture ~ yes
Hydrates skin + powerful antioxidant ~ nope for the hydrating claim
Non-sticky, oil-free ~ yes

Result
Let’s be straight to the point, I love this product! I love this waaay more than the L’Oreal UV Perfect Matte & Fresh (the green one). I also like the scent of this one. The small size of the packaging is also a plus point because it makes this product easy to carry. I think it’s also affordable, even though some other brands sell their sunscreen even cheaper.

I love this sunscreen because it’s not sticky and very lightweight, I think it matches its claim and name. This product contains hyaluronic acid, so they claim it to be hydrating. I can barely feel it hydrating my skin, though, but I don’t take it as a big problem because I rely more on my toner and/or essence as my main hydrating suppliers. I wear makeup every day, and this sunscreen is safe to wear underneath the makeup. I have to mention it because the green tube sunscreen pills on my skin whenever I wear makeup on it. Unfortunately, I can’t tell how it performs on protecting the skin from the sun because I mostly stay inside (indoor) to work, I’m so sorry :(

Pros
+ light texture and fast-absorbing
+ easy to spread and non-sticky
+ doesn’t pill
+ high SPF and has a broad spectrum
+ affordable
+ nice subtle scent
+ practical and travel-friendly packaging

Cons
- the hydrating claim isn’t quite right, but I personally don’t care

Overall rating
5/5!

Wow, if you read my other reviews, you know that I always write A LOT, but this review is so short because I don’t have many to complain, hehe. Anyway, have you guys tried this sunscreen?
