REVIEW Avoskin Hydrating Treatment Essence

by - November 14, 2019

I’m sure you’ve heard Avoskin before. The brand is popular for its infamous Perfect Hydrating Treatment Essence (PHTE). Besides PHTE, they also have other skincare products, and Hydrating Treatment Essence* (HTE) is one of them. This product is very interesting because it’s an essence in the form of a face mist, and they claimed to be a multifunction product! I always wanted to buy one, and now I got sent, it makes me so happy! Oh, FYI, this HTE is just reformulated. The new formulation has 5% niacinamide, Centella asiatica, peppermint oil, and WhiteGen. Let’s discuss it.

Price
IDR99,000 for 100ml.

Blue frosted glass bottle with a spritzer. The spritzer is nice, it sprays evenly and softly.

A very strong mint scent.

Texture
The texture is very watery, it absorbs quite fast into the skin.

Claims
Maintain skin moisture ~ yes, but for me, personally, I have to layer it multiple times
Brighten skin tone ~ haven’t seen any change yet
Maintain skin freshness ~ yes
Reducing redness of the skin due to sun exposure ~ nope
Makeup lasts longer ~ not really

Result
This multifunction face mist, besides to be a face mist, can also be a hydrating toner, essence, and setting spray. I think from those functions, I enjoy using it as an essence the most. I use it as a started in my AM and PM skincare routine, before I put on my hydrating toner. I put two layers of this essence. I don’t spray it straight on to my face nor I spray it to cotton, but I spray it onto my palms (three sprays) and then pat it into the face. I don’t use it as a hydrating toner because my dehydrated-prone, combination skin needs more hydration than a layer of this product, and I kinda lazy to use 5-7 layers of toner.

Besides being an essence, I think it works really well as a face mist, too, it’s refreshing! As a setting spray… I don’t really find it prolong my makeup, but I still like to use it to make my make up less powdery.

This face mist has peppermint oil in it. Even though the peppermint oil placed at the back of the list, I feel the effect is quite strong, especially when I first tried it. It was so mint that it kinda disturbed me, because it stung the most sensitive spots on my face —around my cheekbones and lips, plus on my eyelids, too. So, for sensitive skin people, I recommend you to start slow when you first try this product. But, after weeks using this, I don’t feel the stinging sensation anymore. In fact, it makes me feel very refreshed.

For the brightening effect claim, I haven’t seen it yet, but it could be because I just tried some brightening products before I tried this one. Maybe that makes as if this product has less effect than it actually is (maybe). For calming the redness, well, I never expected it to help me with it, and turned out this product doesn’t really do anything with the redness.

Overall, I think a face mist at this price with great packaging and spritzer, also not forget to mention the nice ingredients, I think it’s worth to try! Even though I haven’t seen the maximum result of it, at least this face mist can help as a booster and give me some refreshing effect.

Pros
+ very refreshing
+ the ingredients are quite nice, 5% niacinamide (!!!) and Centella asiatica extract
+ great bottle and spritzer
+ absorbs into the skin quite fast
+ local product
+ affordable

Cons
- not hydrating enough for my skin, has to be layered
- some claims don’t show on me
- for sensitive skin people, I suggest you try it slowly because the peppermint EO might too strong

Overall rating
4/5
