REVIEW Miniso Dancing on Seashore EDT - Cala Mesquida

by - October 12, 2019

If you’ve read my perfume stash post, then you already know that I’m a sucker for affordable yet great perfumes. Nowadays, it’s not impossible to look for that kind of perfume. Many brands release nice smelling perfume at an affordable price to attract more buyers. Miniso is an example. The Chinese low-cost retail store produces many variants of perfume, and I believe they change the collection every few months. They usually sell their perfumes for less than IDR100,000, and after trying a lot of their perfumes, it’s safe to say that most of them are good.

After months of not going to Miniso (because I just didn’t feel like going to the mall), I finally decided to visit the nearest Miniso store because I saw someone posted on Female Daily app a new Miniso perfume. I haven’t even had the chance to try the Paradise line, and a new line already replaces it. I came to Miniso and found this new perfume line with very cute packagings are on display. I sniffed ALL of them. I think this line has a summery vibe because the scents are mostly fresh and fruity. I came down to two variants to be picked, one of it smelt sweet and fruity at the same time, and the other one smelt musky and fresh. I normally would pick the musky one, but I was in a mood to try something new, so I picked the other one, lol. It is Miniso Dancing on Seashore EDT - Cala Mesquida. They named each perfume in this line using city names, I believe?

Do I end up liking this variant? Does it last long? Here is my review.

Price
IDR59,900 for 30ml.

Packaging
It has a cute, tiny, minimalist packaging. The bottle is clear and the cap is white. The box colour for this variant is purple. Every variant has a different colour.

Notes
Top: lemon, green leaves, fruit cocktail
Middle: jasmine, rose, white flowers
Dry: musk, cedarwood, amber

Sillage & Longevity
It has a soft sillage and a weak to poor longevity.

Result
As I already said in the beginning, I smelt a sweet, fruity scent from this perfume. But when I got home and tried it on my body, the scent is actually more fresh than sweet, but still has a strong fruity touch. Even though it says it contains floral notes in the middle, but I can’t really smell it. The top notes are really strong and linger a little bit longer than usual. I like this scent, but unfortunately, the sillage and the longevity are really bad, at least on me. I’m not sure if it’s because the scent doesn’t match my body chemistry or it’s just not a long-lasting formula. I can barely smell anything after half an hour, even if I use, like, 10 sprays on my body. It’s such a shame because other Miniso perfumes that I’ve tried were amazing for the price (except for the Blooming Bouquet EDP, it doesn’t last long on me, too). Maybe I can barely smell the middle and dry notes because of that reason. I’m still going to use it, but as a touch-up perfume only.

Pros
+ A fresh and fruity scent
+ Cute and tiny packaging
+ Easy to carry
+ Affordable

Cons
- Bad sillage and longevity

Overall rating
2/5

I’m a little bit disappointed because I clearly had a high expectation because Miniso perfumes rarely disappoint me. Anyway, remember that this might only because of my body chemistry, and it might not apply to other variants from this line. Have you already smelt them? Which variant do you prefer?
