Fave Lipsticks & Lip Creams! #teamNude

by - September 23, 2019

They say lipsticks are women’s best friend, and I can’t agree more. If I’m in rush and have very little time to do my makeup, I will fill my eyebrows a little bit, pat some concealer under my eye and on the most annoying hyperpigmentation spots, and use my favourite lipstick. What about you? I bet lipstick is also in your list ;)

When I was curating my favourite lipsticks (and lip creams) that I currently have, I’m pretty shocked that I only have one lipstick that I really love, means that I can even single-use that lipstick (I don’t have to ombré nor I have to mix it with other colour). There are two other lipsticks that I also can single-use, but I prefer to mix or ombré it, and another two lipsticks that I use only for ombré. As you can see in the title, I’m in #teamNude so I picked mostly nude coloured lipsticks. I like peachy or brownish nude colour instead of the pinkish one. I used to love mauve for my lipsticks, but I think I’m not much into that colour anymore. I like both bullet lipsticks and liquid lipsticks, what matters more to me is the formula and the finish. I prefer the soft, suede matte finish, and I don’t really like shiny or glossy finish lipsticks (lip gloss isn’t counted! I kinda like lip gloss).

The Bath Box Shake Lip Pigment - Cara
Price: IDR110,000 (this is the new price, I can’t remember if the old price was different or no)
Packaging: square-shaped tube, looks similar to Jouer’s liquid lipstick tube.
Colour: light peachy apricot when first applied, dries down to peachy light-medium brown nude.
Texture & finish: very watery, lightweight, and opaque. The finish is matte.
Claims: -

I’m so sorry if there is some information that I can’t provide, such as the price and the claims. This shade is already discontinued, and I think the price of their new shades and the previous ones is different. I also can’t find their claims for the old products, and I can’t just put their claims for their newer shades because it might be different, right? Anyway, I love this lip pigment because of the colour. This shade is the perfect nude for me; not too pale nor too deep. It lasts pretty long, a little goes a long way, can be a little bit drying but it doesn’t matter. The packaging looks elegant in my opinion. The wand is the regular doe-foot applicator and I don’t have any problem with that. This is the only lipstick that I can single-use (out of my current collection). If you are interested to get this colour, The Bath Box told me that their new shade ‘Kym’ is basically the same colour like this one.

Pros:
+ perfect peachy light-medium brown nude colour
+ lightweight
+ opaque, long-lasting, a little goes a long way
+ local product
+ elegant packaging

Cons:
- can be a little bit drying

Overall rating: 5/5

Wardah Velvet Matte Lip Mousse - 08 Brown Creator
Price: IDR 56,000 (prices may vary)
Packaging: beautiful packaging, it is a one-coloured matte bottle that supposed to be the same as the colour inside. It looks similar to Korean lip tints like 3CE, Innisfree, etc.
Colour: this shade maybe is the safest because the colour isn’t that different from the swatch and the actual one. The swatch looks more orange and warm, but the actual colour is a medium brown colour, looks very similar to BLP Maple Waffle (I wish I still have that lip cream to compare it side by side).
Texture & finish: mousse texture, very creamy and lightweight. The finish is matte, can be a little bit drying throughout the day but not as drying as the shade 01 Brown Dreamer. It is transfer-proof after fully set.
Claims:
Comfortable ~ yes
Longlasting ~ yes, as long as you’re not having a big meal
Comfort matte finish (not sticky & dry or gives chapped lips look) ~ yes
Smooth, lightweight, and moist on the lips ~ yes and no
Result:
Even though this colour isn’t too different between the swatch and the actual colour, I think you still have to do your research and don’t expect too much that this colour will match your preference (unless you swatch/try it yourself). The closest comparison that I can give is it looks similar to BLP Maple Waffle, although I can’t guarantee it, hehe. This shade is a little bit less drying, less patchy, and a little bit smoother than the shade 01 Brown Creator.

Pros:
+ lightweight mousse texture
+ a medium brown colour that suits almost every skin tone
+ transfer-proof and long-lasting
+ local product
+ cute packaging
+ affordable

Cons:
- the actual colour is slightly different than the official swatch colour

Overall rating: 4.5/5

Wardah Velvet Matte Lip Mousse - 05 Artisan Mauve
Price: IDR 56,000 (prices may vary)
Packaging: beautiful packaging, it is a one-coloured matte bottle that supposed to be the same as the colour inside. It looks similar to Korean lip tints like 3CE, Innisfree, etc.
Colour: just like the shade 01 Brown Dreamer, this shade also looks different from the official swatch (Lippielust’s lip swatches are the official swatch picture of this line). The lip swatch looks like a beautiful warm medium pink colour with a hint of red and mauve, but what we actually get is a pinkish-mauve colour. It lacks the warmness and not as medium as what I see on Lippielust’s lip swatch picture. It turns a little bit darker after fully set.
Smooth, lightweight, and moist on the lips ~ yes and no
Result:
Just like the shade 01 Brown Dreamer, the actual colour and the colour on the swatch picture are very different. Fortunately, this shade still looks good on me even if I single-use it (a.k.a I don’t mix it with other colour), but it looks the best as an ombré lip colour especially with the shade 08 Brown Creator. Surprisingly, this shade (and the shade 08 Brown Creator) is a little bit less drying, isn’t as patchy, and a little bit smoother than the shade 01 Brown Dreamer. At first, I thought it was just because I don’t like the colour of the shade 01 Brown Dreamer, but after trying it out a few more time, I know this formula is slightly better. I think if you want to buy this lip mousse, you have to try it out yourself at their counter or see as many reviews as possible!

Pros:
+ lightweight mousse texture
+ transfer-proof and long-lasting
+ local product
+ cute packaging
+ affordable

Cons:
- the actual colour is different than the official swatch colour

Overall rating: 3.5/5, but if you ask me to just judge the formula, then it is 4.5/5

Maybelline The Powder Matte - Toasted Brown
Price: IDR55,000
Packaging: bullet lipstick, square-shaped cap.
Colour: medium orangey-brown.
Texture & finish: lightweight and creamy, the finish is creamy-powdery matte.
Claims:
Ultra-lightweight ~ yes
More intense colour ~ yes
Result:
I love the formula of this lipstick because it feels very lightweight, not drying at all, but has a matte finish. This shade is a cult-favourite, but not mine. I mean, I like this colour because it looks good on me single-used and full-lips, but I prefer lipsticks with more nude colour for that. For me, this colour is very great as an ombré lip colour, though. It goes to the list of my favourite lipsticks because you can’t go wrong with this formula, it’s a bullet lipstick so very easy to use as a touch-up lipstick, and the colour is not bad anyway especially as an ombré lip colour. If I already finish this lipstick, I surely will try another shade from this line.

Pros:
+ lightweight and comfortable formula
+ a very opaque colour
+ great as an ombré lip colour
+ affordable

Cons:
- I don’t really like use this colour for full-lips

Overall rating: 4/5

NYX Suede Matte Lipstick - Rosé the Day
Price: IDR130,000
Packaging: bullet lipstick.
Colour: light brownish-cream nude.
Texture & finish: very soft and creamy, the finish is creamy matte.
Claims:
Velvety-plush matte ~ yes
Hours of smooth matte coverage that never feels dry ~ yes
Result:
This lipstick is creamier than the Maybelline’s the Powder Matte lipstick. In fact, my lipstick was broken when it was on the way with the expedition to be delivered to me and it’s probably because the lipstick is very creamy and delicate. I picked this colour because it looks like a medium brown nude colour on picture, but turned out to be a light brownish-cream nude and looks really pale on me if single-used. After tons of trials, I know that this colour is perfect as a base for an ombré lips, but it’s better when this lipstick is used at the very last step because somehow this lipstick looks weird under other lipstick (probably because the formula is too creamy). Even though the formula can be tricky, it’s still a very comfortable lipstick. Although the colour makes me look pale, it’s a very beautiful neutral nude colour as a base for ombré lips look!

Pros:
+ very comfortable formula
+ perfect shade as a base for ombré lips colour

Cons:
- the shade is too light on my skin tone
- a little bit tricky to be layered with other lipstick(s)

Overall rating: 4/5
